Champion-elect Daniel Cammish goes into rounds 13 & 14 at Silverstone this weekend (26/27 September) with a healthy 74-point lead in the standings.
With 88 points up for grabs over the remaining four rounds of the 2015 season the Yorkshireman only needs to finish fourth or better in one race to take the title. Nearest rival Michael Meadows has historically gone well at the Northamptonshire track but Dan has a good track record and is optimistic ahead of the weekend.
“It is a track I enjoy and I’ve always got on well there in the past,” said Dan. “I’ve had some really good results there. It’s a fantastic place to race with fantastic facilities. The track suits me and the car, we were really quick for the Supercup meeting so that bodes well for us. I’m hoping that it will be a big weekend for me.”
“I’m carrying my championship advantage into Silverstone, it could all be over, which will be a fantastic relief. It means we can go on to Brands with no pressure on my shoulders and that means that I can have fun. That will be a great way to end the season.”
His lead was stretched at Knockhill last time out when he took a brace of victories along with a pole position. It was the third weekend in succession that he accomplished the double victory, in a season where he has not finished off the podium in the twelve races so far.
The half-hour qualifying session takes place around the six turn, 1.6 mile circuit on Saturday at 14:30. Round 13 takes place on Sunday morning at 10:15, followed by round 14 at 15:55.
