Daniel Cammish has claimed pole position for round twelve of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill in his Nationwide/PPG backed Porsche 991.
Dan set a time just 0.028 of a second faster than rival Josh Webster to claim the pole, a reverse of the grid for round eleven where Webster set the faster time. Having topped the times for most of the half hour session Webster was able to post his time in the last few minutes taking pole for the first race and denying Dan his third double pole in a row.
The session was affected by a red flag ten minutes in and the threat of rain, which thankfully held until the last few minutes when it began to spit.
“It’s great because coming here I knew it would be a tough track for me,” said Dan. “I’ve struggled here in the past, I’ve always been quick but maybe not quick enough. I really did think this morning that if we can be somewhere around the top three I’d be really happy but we’ve come away with a second and a pole. We’ve pulled it out of the bag today and it’s absolutely fantastic. To do that at one of my weakest circuits is great so I couldn’t be happier really.”
“I’m looking forward to the race. I don’t know what is going to go on with the weather. I’m hearing stories that it’s going to be wet, then dry, then wet again. It’s very much about trying to get a podium or trying to win a race but there is the points situation to think of. These guy need to thrash me not just beat me by a point or two so I’m in the pound seats really and I just need to be sensible.”
Race one starts at 9am on Sunday morning and will be shown during the lunch break of ITV4's live coverage of the Touring Cars, with race two starting at 3pm and being broadcast live.
