Daniel Cammish expertly piloted his Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG sponsored Porsche to a double pole position ahead of rounds 5 & 6 in dominate style.

The Redline Racing driver was on it as soon as the cars were released to start the half hour qualifying session. He found a gap in the traffic on the opening lap and built up the pace over the next four laps to set the benchmark time. Having got the best from his tyres he pitted and waited for the optimum time to go out on his second set of tyres.

When he hit the track it was, by his own admission, one of the best laps he had done in a long time. The fastest time was set on laps 10 of 11 and was four tenths of a second faster than his nearest competitor. His second time was only a tenth of a second slow and was enough to take pole for race two by over three tenths.

“It was really good actually,” said Dan. “Last night I was thinking I was overdriving. It wasn’t a great day, we were quick but it was very scrappy driving-wise. Today I put it behind me and drive some really good laps, especially the final two, which were actually quite strong. They were probably two of the best laps I have driven in a long time so I’m really happy with that.”

“In the second half of the session if the track improved it was only marginally, I think I just drove better. It didn’t feel like anything too special in terms of the way the track picked up, I just got my eye in and got going. Everyone improved on the second set of tyres and I did the same. The car and I came good at the same time and we got into a good rhythm, it’s tough to get it going around here but once I found it I was away. So it’s very happy days.”

Race one starts at 17:10 this afternoon with race two following on Sunday at 15:25
